Brazilian Butt Lift

Also known as a gluteal lift, a butt lift is a surgical procedure performed to remove excess skin and fat deposits underneath the buttocks to improve their overall appearance. This is a procedure that most women are increasingly having if they get concerned that their buttocks are sagging or not in the shape they would like. Different women will have different reasons for considering having this procedure done, but in most cases it is done not only to improve looks but also boost self-confidence.

If you have specific goals to improve the appearance of your buttocks, but not sure if a butt lift is the right procedure for you, it is always important to visit a plastic surgeon for a consultation. The doctor will carry out the necessary examinations and make the right surgical judgment. The doctor might recommend the butt lift only or butt lift in combination with other procedures like liposuction or butt augmentation. The most important goal is to achieve your desired change. A combination of procedures may, however, increase the risks, so the doctor will discuss them with you. If you think the benefits outweigh the potential risks, you will sign the consent forms to allow the procedure to be done.

Butt lift is an extensive surgical procedure, so it is important to have it performed by a doctor with the right credentials. You will need experienced hands to achieve the desired results at minimal risks. Dr. Bloch is a board certified plastic surgeon, with over 30 years of experience performing cosmetic surgical procedures with excellent outcomes for patients that go through his skilled hands.

The procedure

A butt lift procedure requires extensive incisions and is performed with the patient under general anesthesia or local anesthesia for comfort during the operation. It is, however, a procedure which can be performed on an outpatient basis. Dr. Bloch will make the incisions strategically underneath the buttocks area. That will make your scars invisible after recovery. Through the incisions, the surgeon will remove the excess skin and fat deposits. If necessary, liposuction may also be used to remove fats if it helps achieve the looks desired. Dr. Bloch also performs a Brazilian butt lift which involves harvesting fat through liposuction from donor areas and re-injecting it into the patient’s butt. Donor sites are carefully selected to leave them looking normal.

Am I a good candidate for this procedure?

If you lack self-confidence because of the looks of your buttocks, probably because you think they are sagging too much, you may be a good butt lift candidate. The surgeon will, however, need to examine your buttocks to be sure the procedure will help you achieve your specific goals. If the Brazilian but is the right option, the doctor will make sure you have donor sites with excess fat that can be harvested. Only your own fats will need to be harvested. Medical tests are also required to make sure you do not have any conditions that can make your surgery risky.

Risks

As it will be discussed with your surgeon during the consultation process, a butt lift like most other surgical procedures involves certain risks. These can include anesthesia risks, persistent numbness, infections, bleeding, scarring, open wounds, need for revision or touch-up procedures and so on. However, serious complications are very rare because the surgeon is always careful to apply all measures that minimize risks.

Recovery time

Within a few weeks after surgery, you should recover from most of the normal swelling, bruising, and numbness. The biggest difficulty you would have after surgery is not being able to sit. Compression garments might be necessary to help you heal well and after several weeks should be able to sit down and resume normal activities.
