Tummy Tuck Chicago Procedure– Shape-up Your Belly Permanently

A bulging or flabby tummy is a frustration of most men and women. This belly deformation is normally caused by excess fat tissue or loose skin and muscles. If you have tried to improve your situation with exercise and diets to no success, tummy tuck could help you regain your youthful flat and firm abdomen.

What is a tummy tuck?

Tummy tuck, medically known as abdominoplasty is cosmetic surgery usually performed to get rid of unwanted fat and skin and also tightens lax muscles. This surgery is done under general anesthesia and should be performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon in an accredited surgical center or hospital. You will most likely be hospitalized for 1 to 3 days after the procedure before you are discharged. Consultation with a plastic surgeon will help you understand if you qualify for surgery or not. Dr. Bloch is a Chicago based plastic surgeon with board certification and over 30 years experience in cosmetic plastic surgery. To book an appointment at the facility, visit Body by Bloch.

Tummy tuck surgery is a highly individualized procedure and you should do it for yourself, not to fulfill someone else’s desires or to try to fit any sort of ideal image.

How is a tummy tuck performed?

On the day of your abdominoplasty surgery, you will be taken to the operating room. Your surgeon will mark the area to be operated on. You will be given anesthesia which will put you to sleep and stay pain-free during surgery. In a traditional abdominoplasty, your surgeon will make a long incision just above your pubic hairline. Next, extra fat is excised. Loose ab muscles are tightened with sutures. Skin is then draped and the navel may be repositioned. Excess skin is trimmed. The cut is then closed with stitches followed by the insertion of tiny drains to remove any accumulating blood. Your abdomen is then covered with firm gauze.

What can I expect during recovery?

After abdominoplasty, you will be taken to the recovery room. Prescription pain medication and antibiotics for infection control will be provided. Dr. Bloch will then give you instructions to follow during recovery which include:

After 2 to 3 months, you will have fully recovered but the incision scar will not fade permanently. Routine exercise and proper dieting will prolong your results.
