Who is a good candidate for a chemical peel?

Generally, fair-skinned and light-haired patients are better candidates for chemical peels. If you have darker skin, you may also have good results, depending upon the type of problem being treated. But you also may be more likely to have an uneven skin tone after the procedure.

Skin sags, bulges, and more severe wrinkles do not respond well to chemical peels. They may need other kinds of cosmetic surgical procedures, such as laser resurfacing, a facelift brow lift eyelid lift , or soft tissue filler (collagen or fat). A dermatologic surgeon can help determine the most appropriate type of treatment for you.

How is MicroPeel procedure?

A majority of our patients at Skin Deep Medical Spa only spend about 30 minutes with us for the completion of MicroPeel treatment. To begin the treatment, one of our physicians will remove your dead skin layers and debris through a pain-free procedure called dermaplaning that uses a dermaplaning blade. This prepares your skin for the chemical peel solution.

Next, our nurse will apply a glycolic solution on your skin. The formulation removes your outer epidermis and stimulates collagen production that improves most of your skin imperfections. In this step, you may experience some mild itching or burning.

In the third and final procedure, called cryogenic therapy, our physician will apply dry ice on your skin to prevent inflammation and bacterial attack. The ice will also make your skin feel tight and cool. The moisturizing cream will then be applied on your skin after the 3-step treatment.

What can I expect after MicroPeel?

Following the peel, you will feel minor or no discomfort but you can apply makeup. Your treated skin will invisibly shed. You will see maximum results after two weeks. For optimal results, we usually recommend six peels spaced two weeks apart. After the last treatment, you can maintain your good results by getting MicroPeel every 1 to 3 months. Good skin care will help maintain your results. MicroPeel will however not stop the normal aging process.
