Back To The Youth With Botox

What is Botox? Is there any danger in using it? Can it really rejuvenate skin? How should it be used? Where can you do it?

Botox is an excellent opportunity for those who would like to fight skin aging.

What is Botox?

Most people know Botox only as some kind of injections used for smoothing wrinkles and crow’s feet. Botox has some other peculiarities. Actually, Botox is the toxin produced by bacterium called Clostridium botulinum. Used in large doses, these bacteria can cause such illnesses as botulism. But the most serious disease may be paralysis. However, small amounts of Botox are used for injections into face muscles. These injections make it possible to control the process of muscles weakening.

Botox was approved by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the 1980s. At that time, it was used for “lazy eye” and “uncontrolled blinking”. Later, in 2002 FDA allowed to use Botox for so-called “glabellar lines”. It is the word describing frowns between eyebrows.

How does it work?

The injection has an ability to stop nervous signals that are sent to muscles. As far as muscle does not receive any signals, no contractions take place, and as a result you have smooth skin. Everything is easy and simple. It is used for skin around eyes, forehead wrinkles, and frown lines.

Is that painful?

The procedure is not painful itself. It even does not require any anesthesia. Simple injection in made into a particular muscle and that’s all. There is nothing to be afraid about.

What should be done before and after injection?

It is recommended not to drink any alcohol before the procedure. It is better avoid taking such medicines as aspirin and sedatives. Remember that you will see effect in seven days.

How long does effect last?

You will enjoy the results of Botox at least for four months. Then the effect of injection will decrease, and wrinkles will re-appear.

Are there any side effects?

The most common side effect is bruising. But it is temporary and there is nothing to worry about. You may also have a headache during the next day and night after injection.
