Laser Skin Resurfacing

In laser resurfacing, a beam of light is used to vaporize the upper layers of damaged skin with accurate precision. As new cells form during the healing process, a smoother, tighter, younger skin surface appears.

There are various types of lasers available to perform this procedure. The 1st generation was the Carbon Dioxide (CO2) laser. A newer, kinder, gentler laser is the Yag: Erbium Laser, which has considerably less healing time with fewer complications and side effects such as erythema or pigment changes.

Laser Skin resurfacing is most commonly used to minimize the appearance of fine lines, especially around the mouth and eyes. It is also effective in treating facial scars or uneven pigmentation. The procedure may be performed on the whole face or in specific regions. Often the procedure is done in conjunction with another cosmetic operation, such as a facelift or eyelid surgery.

One must realize that this is an evolving and expensive technology. We are committed to investing the necessary resources to provide you with the absolute state of the art in laser technology.

Recently we have introduced Plasma peels in lieu of laser resurfacing. This technology has the ability to heat up the deeper tissue while sparing the skin to promote collagen tightening and wrinkle reduction. Advantages are minimal downtime and faster healing.
