Ears that protrude or that are larger in proportion to other features can be an embarrassment at any age, but can be corrected with surgery for both children and adults. Surgery is possible at any age, but is recommended for children after ear development at age five or six. Through incisions placed behind the ears, a small portion of skin is removed, the cartilage is reshaped and proportioned, and the ears are positioned closer to the head giving a more pleasing appearance.
